What’s up?

As many of you will remember from last year’s festivities, August 13th is a very special day for lefties everywhere! Left Handers’ Day is a day where we can all get together freely and talk about our scissor preferences, smudged writing and how many times we’ve been heard: “Hey! Are you left handed?”.

Of course, we can do that any day. But on the 13th of August we have an awesome excuse. And once again, we’re providing you with the perfect excuse to put on that thinking cap and grab your art supplies to create something awesome for the LHA 2012 contest!

There are two sides to every coin: good and evil, day and night, law and chaos, left and right. This year’s theme is all about opposites, however you want to interpret them! Your piece can include any and all opposites, limited to only your imagination. It doesn’t have to relate to left-handedness, but just contrasting themes and opposites as general or specific as you want to get.

To include as many art forms as possible and give everybody a chance to take home one of our fabulous prizes, we’ve structured the contest into 4 categories similar to last year.

Drawings, Paintings and Films.
(This includes both digital and traditional mediums, including but not limited to animation, 3d renders, fractals, drawings, paintings, typography and designs.)

Literature.
(This includes but is not limited to stories, poems, scripts and lyrics. All entries in this category must not be part of a series and must be under 300 words long. Remember proper grammar and spelling!)

Photography and Photomanipulations.
(This includes photos taken and edited by you, along with your edits of stock photos. You MUST credit all stock in your artist comments with links. Please make sure that you are allowed to use any stock that you include in your entry.)

Artisan Crafts.
(This includes models, carvings, jewelry, textiles, metalwork, papercraft and anything else that you can make!)

- Please upload your artwork to your account as a deviation.

- The submission must be DONE BY YOURSELF! If doing a drawing it has to be done FULLY BY YOURSELF (sorry, no bases allowed). In category Photomanipulation be sure to GIVE CREDIT TO ALL ORIGINAL SOURCES!

- Your artwork must be made for the contest. We will only accept deviations uploaded after (date), no old works are allowed.

- Please include “For LeftHandedArtists’s 2012 Opposites Contest.” In the artist comments on your deviation.

- You may only submit ONE entry into the contest. Not one in each category, but one overall. If you submit a deviation and then change your mind please remove it from the contest folder and submit your new entry.

- To send in your entry, please note the group with a link to your deviation and the subject heading “LHA CONTEST ENTRY”. We will put it into the correct contest folder.

- Gore and nudity are allowed, but please keep it tasteful and add a mature content filter. We will not accept your entry if any of the admin find it disturbing.

- As always, please try your best!

Prizes will be awarded to the winner of each category. Keep checking back, as more prizes will be added! If you wish to donate a prize, please contact the group via note or comment. Deviants and groups who offer prizes will be listed here – and added to our thank-you list at the end of the contest! Winners will be chosen by the LHA admin team.
